Community & Civic
Building stronger communities for all Georgians
Georgia Power and the Georgia Power Foundation believe in building strong communities. Our communities are at the core of what makes Georgia an attractive state to live, learn and do business. That’s why, in 2018, we contributed over $3.9 million to civic and community organizations. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all citizens of our state.. As part of that promise, we maintain relationships with key leaders and organizations, so we can work together to help our communities flourish and build a brighter future for our state.
Club of Hearts
For more than 50 years, Georgia Power and Southern Company employees have contributed millions of dollars to local health and human services organizations and helped current and retired Georgia Power employees facing financial hardship through the Club of Hearts nonprofit organization.
Martin Luther King Day at Georgia Power
Georgia Power and our employees are proud to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of bringing people together by strengthening the communities we serve through community service and events.
The Georgia Power Foundation
Westside Future Fund
The Georgia Power Foundation, along with several companies in the Atlanta-area, are coming together to "restore strength" to the Westside of the city through the Westside Future Fund. The fund was created in 2013 to act as the central change agent for all revitalization efforts in the neighborhood surrounding the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Center for Advanced Pediatrics
The Georgia Power Foundation recently completed a three-year, $1 million investment to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's newly opened Advanced Pediatrics Center. The 250,000-square-foot facility brings together a pediatrics clinic, specialists and improved patient care under one roof. The location was chosen due to its central location to Children's three hospitals in the Atlanta-area.
The Georgia Power Foundation has had a long-standing relationship with Grady Hospital and recently made a financial commitment to the hospital to ensure it can continue to meet community demand. Grady Hospital is the state's largest public health system, providing unparalleled regional care to more than 620,000 patients a year – many of whom are the community's most vulnerable citizens.
